Amy Spaulding

Frank Stasio, host of "The State of Things" on WUNC Public Radio (1/10/2011), interviews Amy Spaulding about her company Sleepy Hollow Books and how to encourage children to read.

Sleepy Hollow Books is an editorial consulting company located in Durham, North Carolina. We specialize in fiction for the middle grades (ages 8-12). Amy Spaulding is editorial lead.

Amy Spaulding interviews Sea Turtle Biologist Matthew H. Godfrey about:

+ His work as a sea turtle biologist,
+ What inspired him to study sea turtles, and
+ What kids can do to help sea turtles and the environment.

Dr. Godfrey served as a consultant on the novel YURI'S BRUSH WITH MAGIC by Maureen Crane Wartski. The book is about a young girl who learns about herself and self-reliance while studying loggerhead sea turtles.

Dr. Godfrey checked to make sure that the facts about sea turtles in the book were accurate as well as providing a list of sea turtle "Fun Facts" for the book's appendix.
